Will the world's largest coral reef be protected from the "assault" of climate change?
As the Earth's temperature is approximately 1 °C higher than in the pre-industrial era, the corals of the Great Barrier Reef are unable to adapt to this, and the reef as a habitat is rapidly changing due to the impact of temperature. The Australian government has allocated around 150 million AUD to prevent the impact of rising temperatures on the future of the Great Barrier Reef.
