For example, Canadians can supply themselves with masks and other currently essential medical supplies, as well as promote the use and production of bio-products, such as synthetic products that do not require the use of petroleum.

Bob Simpson, the mayor of the city of Quesnel, has called for greater attention to be paid to this opportunity (the wider use of forest products), as British Columbia, where the city is located, is highly dependent on the timber industry. Mayor Simpson believes that the current situation (the pandemic) opens up other opportunities that must be harnessed evolutionarily, specifically, by developing what has hitherto remained untapped.
