The virus crisis has affected and will continue to affect virtually everything, including the forest sector and forest policy. Almost all processes are proceeding more slowly, which simultaneously means that there is, for example, time for a more thorough and comprehensive analysis of the European "Green Deal", including the 2020 Forest Strategy. Firstly, the potential of the forest sector in terms of employment (jobs) and regional development will continue to grow. Secondly, it is very important to recognise that by using and consuming products created by the forest sector daily, employment will grow (the number of jobs will increase), compared to the alternative - preserving forests untouched solely for carbon sequestration.
