Epicentrs is responding to the call from the Latvian Archaeologists Society to pay special attention to the Āraiši Lake Fortress, which was chosen as the archaeological monument of the year in 2020. We have been studying the Āraiši lake from various aspects and using different methods (pollen, plant remains, volcanic ash, soil erosion, water quality changes, etc.) since 2011, but this time we provide a brief overview of human activity and environmental changes in the context of the Āraiši Lake Fortress.
