Industry company Metsä Board has started production of an improved, recyclable paperboard variety with a so-called "grease and moisture barrier" (the paperboard does not absorb grease or moisture). Official production began back in 2019, the new paperboard variety contains no plastic and is recyclable together with "ordinary" paperboard varieties.
