Many Latvian municipalities have regulations regarding grass height in domestic lawns; the Salaspils municipal council has gone further than others by setting a maximum grass length for fields and forest meadows as well, reported the LNT programme “900 sekundes”.

Local farmers and residents are outraged by the municipality’s incomprehensible actions. The council, meanwhile, maintains that they are doing everything they can to eradicate grass fires.
