More Primary School in Sigulda Municipality marks its 145th anniversary this year. More than a decade ago, when rural schools were fighting for their survival, an inclusive education programme, where children with mild to severe developmental disabilities are taught, saved this school from closure.

Today, headteacher Tīna Blūma proudly admits that this type of school gives special children not only the opportunity to return to their families after lessons, rather than being isolated in boarding schools, but also allows healthy youngsters to grow up in a tolerant environment where difference is accepted as the norm.
