Requirements for candidates:
- compliance with the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law
- compliance with the requirements specified in the Law "On State Secrets" to receive a special permit for access to state secrets
- higher academic or second-level professional higher education (forestry preferred)
- at least five years of experience in a management position (preferably in public administration), obtained within the last 10 years (please specify the number of staff managed in the relevant position in your CV)
- at least five years of professional experience in the forestry sector, obtained within the last 10 years
- knowledge and ability to navigate Latvian, EU, and other international legal acts related to the competence of the State Forest Service
- understanding of the structure and operation of the EU's institutional and legal system, the EU Green Deal, including the Common Agricultural Policy
- understanding of the structure and fundamental principles of public administration, administrative processes, and budget planning issues
- B2 level English language proficiency, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: https://europa.eu/europass/lv/common-european-framework-reference-language-skills
- good strategic planning, cooperation, argumentation, communication, and presentation skills
- a systemic approach to problem-solving, the ability to grasp and analyse complex and large volumes of information across various fields
- impeccable reputation

In the third stage of the selection process, management competencies will be assessed: strategic vision, orientation towards achieving results, team leadership, change management, and motivating and developing employees.
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents to the State Chancellery by 24 April 2023:
1) an application letter for participation in the competition, indicating motivation for holding the position of Director General of the State Forest Service. The application letter must include confirmation of compliance with the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law and the requirements specified in the Law "On State Secrets" to receive a special permit for access to state secrets;
2) the candidate's Curriculum Vitae (Curriculum Vitae), containing information that verifies compliance with the requirements mentioned in the announcement (preferably in accordance with the Europass CV standard, available on the website www.europass.lv);
3) the candidate's vision for the development of the State Forest Service over the next five years (no more than 2000 words).
