“Laflora” manages three peat bogs covering an area of 1934 hectares – the Kaigu and Drabiņu bogs in the Jelgava region and the Nīcgales bog in the Daugavpils region, providing permanent employment for around 250 staff, with the number of employees rising to as many as 400 during the peat extraction season. The “Laflora” company has been recognised as the best employer in Zemgale and the Jelgava region by both the Employers' Confederation of Latvia and the Jelgava Regional Municipality.
The company’s turnover has been steadily increasing in recent years and last year exceeded 18 million euros, when the company paid 3.2 million euros in taxes, and it has been recognised as one of the largest taxpayers in the Jelgava region.
Chairman of the Jelgava Regional Council Ziedonis Caune notes: ““Laflora” is one of the most significant companies in the Jelgava region, which has strengthened the region’s growth through its tax contributions. Thanks to high work standards, it has always been a socially responsible company and has earned the affection and trust of the residents. For many years, as long as the law allowed, the company has been a generous patron and donor for both sports and cultural events and projects. The fact that the company intends to operate even more sustainably - by developing a wind park in the worked-out peat bogs, creates real pride, because, thanks to the company's growth, the Jelgava region will also be able to increase its potential.”
