By signing this letter, I support the request to the country's highest officials:

• to impose a moratorium on the creation of micro-reserves in private forests until a compensation mechanism is established in the country and a budget for compensation payments is provided, ensuring the fair remuneration stipulated in the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia for the restriction of private property rights in the public interest, and until voluntary forest management recommendations adapted for the protection of specific species are developed;

• The Lesser Spotted Eagle protection plan approved by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development on 08.01.2020, during the development of which state officials removed a scientifically grounded proposal from the draft, which was aimed at balancing nature conservation and private property interests, thereby grossly violating the principles of good governance that state institutions must observe while respecting both nature conservation and public interests.

By signing this letter, I agree that my full name may be published below the text of the letter when it is sent to the state officials mentioned therein, and I have no objection to organizations representing landowners contacting me if necessary to clarify information.
