In 1923, only 23% of Latvia's territory was covered by forests, whereas today it is 53%. The reality is that not only foxes and roe deer, but now also wolves and even bears are rummaging through people's yards.

Naturally, the birds would like it if forests were not cut down at all and all of Latvia turned into one big Moricsala Nature Reserve. Better yet – if humanity disappeared from this world entirely.

And then the question arises – where do such activities stem from? Can people really not see the big picture, in which human safety and prosperity are just as important as ecology?

It is clear that any project that increases the share of local resources in energy production bolsters Latvia's energy independence, and therefore our freedom as well. Next door lies Russia, which uses ecology to cynically mask its economic and political interests.
