IMPORTANT! On the future of hunting in Europe

There are places in Europe where special nature conservation measures are needed, including habitat restoration. Wherever possible, hunters do everything they can to get involved in nature conservation, carrying out this work voluntarily, every day, and all across Europe.

A great many decisions about how we hunt are made right in Brussels. European Union regulations determine the status of biodiversity on European agricultural land. The European Union decides which birds we hunt. Furthermore, the European Union influences the hunting seasons for these birds. European Union regulations influence and define the hunting methods that may be used.

Another issue influenced by Brussels is how we may or may not manage large carnivores. Brussels also affects which firearms are permitted for use in hunting and sports shooting, and it also largely determines what ammunition we will be able to use in the future.

Decisions are also taken in the corridors of the European Union regarding how hunting is conducted in each country, as well as the adoption of rules regulating environmental protection and agriculture. These also affect game species.
