The report indicates that the use of wood residues is a component of sustainable forest management that helps maintain high levels of stored carbon in forests and serves as a key source of renewable energy in Europe.

 

The order volume for SIA “Freimans Timber Construction”, a manufacturer of prefabricated timber trusses and roof structures, has increased rapidly, leading the company to decide to expand production by investing approximately half a million euros in the construction of a new production and warehouse building, the company’s head Raitis Freimanis told the Delfi Bizness portal.

“It is no wonder that wild animals manage to come into populated areas. Humans have had to and will continue to have to learn to coexist with wild animals. The main thing is to prevent situations where animal populations threaten human safety and cause excessive damage. In such cases, appropriate solutions must be sought,” notes Raivo Rudzītis, Chief Forester of the North Vidzeme Forest District of the State Forest Service.

Carbon credits are a relatively new niche that forest owners can use to generate additional income. The voluntary carbon market continues to develop and grow rapidly. Rules and standards are still changing, and new market players are constantly appearing, which is why forest owners need to be informed about the support that carbon credit project developers can provide, as well as the costs and other aspects.

During the course of the project, two beech trees, which were located at the planned construction site for a Ferris wheel, were transplanted.

 

 

 

I have several responsibilities. The first is to care for, maintain and promote the city's architectural quality and the quality of public space: this is a very significant factor. There is also the work in the internal urban planning council, where important urban planning issues are addressed and major proposals are considered: the council provides an assessment of the impact and quality of proposals on the urban environment from a general perspective – from the perspective of architects or, at this point, one should say from a multidisciplinary team, because our team includes landscape architects as well as a city designer, so we will have a broader view of the city's architectural quality.

 

The decrease in the number of dairy cows, especially in a situation where the purchase prices for raw milk in Latvia are falling while they are rising in the EU, even though the costs of keeping cows are by no means decreasing, while at the same time supermarket shelves are increasingly stocked with imported dairy products, is a harsh SOS signal for the government to develop an effective action plan for the survival of this strategic sector.

In a public discussion about increasing the salaries of high-ranking state officials, I ventured to remark that I do not see the logic in such an idea. In our daily lives, we are prepared to pay more for a product or service (whether it be a hotel, cheese, a hairdresser or wine) if a higher price means higher quality (provided, of course, that our financial situation allows such a choice at all).
