On the night of 14 September, a lightning strike burnt down one of the greatest, most scenically excellent trees in Latvia – the Dambji great oak, which had been growing for at least 400 years on the edge of a steep ravine near Burtnieks, not far from the Dambji house and church.eliesma.lv
