“Mītavas bebri” takes pride in wooden tableware, chopping boards, and utensils created in Jelgava. Special attention is paid to functional design, but Jelgava native Kristīne Ovsjanko emphasises that the ecological principle is just as important.
Wood brings a sense of cosiness into the home; it serves as additional decor but is also very practical. In the past, wooden tableware was used extensively, then there was a period when it quietened down, and now it is returning again. People like wooden tableware; recently, there has been high demand from young people, which is very pleasing. I am so used to it myself that I cannot manage without my own breakfast board. Wood is an eco-friendly material, and we work very hard on quality. Everything we make is ecologically clean; we do not use any chemicals. We treat the tableware with beeswax and olive oil, which has a more neutral scent than linseed oil, and together with the wax, it creates a very pleasant aroma.
