There is a very significant difference between the stance of being “against the war” and being “against me personally paying for a lost war”. Nowadays, however, a great many people are trying to convince us that these are one and the same.
Today, the difference can be calculated very simply – by measuring time.
Let us assume that in March or May 2014, you didn't quite understand something. I was planting potatoes, I didn't have time for that. Or perhaps I was implementing a creative project, just as creatively sipping a latte.
However, by 2015 at the latest, it was very easy to understand what was happening and to identify oneself in this regard in some way.
But if in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 everything was still just fine, everything was “outside of politics” or even specifically “meant for our people”, and in 2022 it suddenly changed – then we are talking about the second option. We are talking about, generally speaking, not getting hit over the head along with everyone else because of a military defeat.
One shouldn't forget that the stance of “I am against the war” sounds just as intelligible today as a cow's moo. Everyone is against the war today. Even Putin.
Now the question is what sort of victory and what sort of defeat you are fighting for. This question should be asked to understand how one patient or another is breathing (who is worried about what right now).
