You would agree that Latvia's energy sector was not historically shaped by making emotional purchases in shops. Even today, within the framework of the European Green Deal, we still need very high-calibre specialists at all levels who know their trade, understand the results that must be achieved, and are familiar with our strengths, as well as our failures and shortcomings. One must be well-versed in leading technologies and the possibilities for their sustainable application within the energy system, providing a high level of energy supply security, energy efficiency and the maximum use of renewable energy source (RES) solutions. It is necessary to have a clear understanding of what has shaped, and what should be, the technically and economically justified energy consumption of buildings and transport in our changing climatic conditions, what RES are available in each location, their seasonality, and the available technologies that we can afford and that can give us the most. Good information on all of this must be available, both in general and in detail, so that we can better manage the development of an individual company, a household, or even the national energy sector.
