The Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure and the owners of the Azovstal plant have appealed to the Latvian government to support Daugavpils Locomotive Repair Plant (DLRR), representatives of DLRR reported.

In early May, Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov addressed a letter to the Latvian Minister of Transport Tālis Linkaits, stating that "DLRR's long-standing experience, unique operational specifics and ability to provide a full range of services will be extremely important for the restoration of Ukraine's railway infrastructure after the war ends".

The management of DLRR's partner, the Ukrainian company Metinvest, has also sent an official letter to the Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia, highlighting the strategic importance of DLRR in the restoration of the currently devastated railway infrastructure and its equipment.

In his letter, O. Kubrakovs points out that deliberate attacks are being carried out against the Ukrainian railway, destroying infrastructure. The letter to the Ministry of Transport notes that Ukraine's ability to provide repair services for rolling stock and locomotives is limited, as Ukrainian factories, as well as other strategically important facilities, are regularly threatened by explosions and targeted attacks.
