Ireland's Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications has stated that the country will require sufficiently strict, even drastic action in forestry to reach its climate targets. In his statement, the Minister emphasised that people usually think: the soil absorbs or stores carbon, but... 2018 measurements show that the soil (land) is a source of emissions. Therefore: the more work and the greater the effort (even 'harsh') that must be applied to turn the soil into a carbon sink.
