"Although it is not customary for Latvians to complain about life," one must analyse one's inner feelings, and the government must understand that there is a cause for public action.
"At the heart of everything is concern for one's future, about how to make ends meet, yet the government promises nothing. For example, how is upbringing handled in a family? Normal parents do not react to a child's stubbornness but rather look for the reason behind it. What happened a minute ago is not the cause of that concept. Evidently, there is some deeper cause that led the child to such a reaction. It is the same with the protests against masks. The mask is not the cause that led to such communication. Our media analysis proves this too. It is necessary to take an interest in public opinion."
"The problem in Latvian journalism is that the "common person" only appears in the comments, not in the articles. Everywhere there are experts and official sources. We need more human stories. We need people to share how the pandemic, for example, has affected their businesses. We need to go to the people and find out how they live. Public attention is only given to those who shout. Others are not asked questions, they do not write comments, and they do not issue press releases, so they become resentful that their experience does not appear anywhere, that no one hears them, and that it is assumed everyone is the same."
