More than 200 student entries were submitted to the Nature Conservation Agency's Slītere National Park (SNP) nature centre creative competition “Mine, yours, our Slītere”, dedicated to the National Park's 100th anniversary; the works will delight visitors to the Šlītere lighthouse in a special exhibition this spring.
“In organising this competition, we wanted students to create our collective story about Slītere National Park on its centenary, highlighting its natural diversity, splendour, changeability and beauty, as well as the place and role of people within it. We are pleased with the students' unique vision. The works were crafted with the utmost care, reflecting a great love for natural treasures. We hope that everyone who visits the Šlītere lighthouse this spring and views the exhibition will be touched by the children's genuine respect and understanding of the park's natural and cultural-historical diversity, and the need to protect it so that we can preserve this beauty for generations to come,” says Baiba Ralle, head of the SNP nature centre.
