Tourism sector pressures Tasmanian government to end logging

Tasmania's tourism lobby has terminated its long-standing agreement with the island's forestry sector, amid growing concerns from tour operators that logging is seriously threatening the image of the 'clean and green' island. At the same time, more than 180 tour operators with business links to Tasmania have appealed to the island's government, calling for an end to logging. The Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania (Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania (TICT)) has unilaterally withdrawn from the Tourism and Forestry Industry Protocol, which was signed in 2003 and renewed in 2017.
