Seminar topics include mechanised forest harvesting using forest machinery from the Swedish company Malwa for young stand and
thinning, sanitary felling, undergrowth clearing before regeneration felling, and the removal of seed trees. Opportunities for using telemetric systems in production conditions, and a demonstration of an automated tool for planning ditch crossings. Participants will inspect previously managed sites, and the seminar will conclude with a visit to a site where
mechanised forest harvesting is taking place.
The seminar will feature presentations from Andis Lazdiņš, Lead Researcher in the Forest Operations and Forest Energy Research Direction at LVMI Silava, research assistants Agris Zimelis and Jānis Ivanovs, and Uvis Dambergs, Deputy Director of the Forest Research Station.
