In November 2021, significant energy efficiency improvement works were completed at the LLU Forest Faculty in Jelgava, and its building on Akadēmijas Street has gained a new exterior look. Furthermore, in 2020, major modernisation works of the study environment were also implemented, meaning that future forestry sector specialists now have access to comfortable, modern and well-organised study premises.

The Forest Faculty building on Akadēmijas Street was built in 1957 and commissioned for the needs of the then Latvian Academy of Agriculture (now LLU). As architects have acknowledged, the building represents the Stalinist neoclassical style, with the facade featuring various decorative elements from the Stalin era to symbolise the power and majesty of the Soviet period. Over the course of several decades, internal maintenance works have been carried out, transforming it into a unique symbol of the forestry and timber processing industry, with wood used as much as possible as an interior element and material for decorative features. However, since the building's construction, its exterior facade had not previously undergone any significant renovation work.

The building's energy efficiency improvement works were implemented with climate change in mind, aiming to reduce heat loss to the surrounding environment, improve the building's energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs, increase the building's sustainability and quality, as well as improve its aesthetic appearance and overall technical condition.
