...the majority of Latvia's population was born and raised in cities and has no opportunity to gain an impression of how carefully and thoughtfully a manager's decisions form the basis of agriculture and forestry.

The consequences of this polarisation process can be observed in many discussions in the public sphere: some see only timber in the forest, others see only a bird's habitat, still others see only a place for mushrooming and berry-picking, while for an ever-growing segment of society, it is just a place to ride motorcycles.

A forest manager has no choice – when managing a forest, one must see everything that is happening and balance all the functions of the forest.
