The forest watchdog for British Columbia (Canada) is pleased to read the submitted proposals for the Forest and Range Practices Act (Forest and Range Practices Act), which aim to strengthen public interests and enable participation in forestry-related decision-making. Given the complexity of implementing these proposals, they are "only the beginning". The Minister of Forests explained that the new forest management and forest landscape planning policy (of which the aforementioned regulations are a part) will, over time, replace the existing forest management plans, which were previously developed mostly by representatives of the forest industry.
