New OECD Economic Survey of Latvia to be presented in Riga on 25 April

On 25 April, Mathias Cormann (Mathias Cormann), Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (hereinafter OECD), and representatives of the OECD Economics Department will make a special visit to Latvia to present the latest Economic Survey of Latvia in person and to set out the recommendations it makes for further promoting the development of the Latvian economy. Minister for Economics Viktors Valainis will also take part in the presentation of the Economic Survey, and a bilateral meeting with M. Cormann is scheduled ahead of the event.

The Economic Survey of Latvia assesses the country's economic situation, paying particular attention to investment promotion policy and the measures implemented, and sets out the recommendations of OECD experts for securing more sustainable growth of the Latvian economy. In line with OECD practice, surveys of this kind on OECD member states are published once every two years. The new Economic Survey of Latvia will be published on the OECD website on 25 April this year (following the presentation event).

The presentation of the OECD Economic Survey of Latvia will take place in two parts:

  • Part I, 10.00-10.50 — addresses by OECD Secretary-General M. Cormann and Minister for Economics V. Valainis.
  • Part II, 11.20-13.00 — a discussion between OECD experts and Latvian representatives on the main conclusions and recommendations of the Economic Survey for fostering the further growth of the Latvian economy, with particular attention to promoting investment for the growth of the Latvian economy, which is the main topic examined in the new OECD Economic Survey of Latvia.

Anyone interested will be able to follow the presentation of the survey live on the Ministry of Economics Youtube channel (in Latvian and English) and Facebook channel (in Latvian).

Representatives of ministries, social partners, academia, non-governmental organisations, foreign embassies and other institutions, as well as Latvia's leading economists and business people, are invited to attend the presentation of the survey.

During his visit to Latvia, OECD Secretary-General M. Cormann is also scheduled to hold individual meetings with the President of Latvia, the Minister for Finance, the Minister for Education and Science and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
