The Latvian national PEFC forest management standard (hereinafter – the Standard), the PEFC national forest management system for Latvia, has been re-recognised internationally.
The re-approval process means that the Standard has been updated at a national level, adapting it to the revised sustainability standard of PEFC International.
All changes made have been verified by an independent international assessor, on the basis of which PEFC International has taken the decision to continue the recognition of the national forest management system.
Board member of the association 'PEFC Latvia Council', Līga Jansone: "The re-recognition of the updated Standard is excellent news for the entire forest industry and for Latvia as a whole. I am pleased that together we have succeeded in updating the conditions for sustainable forest management."
