Requirements for candidates:

● Compliance with the requirements specified in Article 14.1, paragraphs 10, 11 and 12 of the Law on Higher Education Institutions.

● Higher education obtained at the highest level (excluding first-level professional higher education) according to the Latvian education classification, which provides the necessary set of knowledge and competencies to professionally perform the duties of a university council member. A doctoral degree is desirable.

● An impeccable reputation (a candidate shall be considered a person of impeccable reputation if there is no evidence to the contrary, and there is no reason for reasonable doubt regarding the person's impeccable reputation).

● Work experience gained within the last ten years that provides the necessary set of skills to professionally perform the duties of an LLU council member:

1. ● at least five years of work experience in organisational management or another senior leadership position (please state the work experience that confirms this in the application documents);
2. ● practical work experience in the strategic management or governance of an organisation (please state the work experience that confirms this in the application documents);

● Professional experience in the following areas (please state the work experience that confirms experience in at least one of the mentioned areas in the application documents):

1. ● financial management and audit;
2. ● risk management and internal control systems;
3. ● international cooperation;
4. ● Management experience in the following areas (please state the work experience that confirms experience in at least one of the mentioned areas in the application documents):
5. ● building collaborative networks, including cooperation between higher education and the labour market;
6. ● team and stakeholder management;
7. ● Experience in change management.
8. ● An understanding of development trends in higher education and science in Latvia and globally.
9. ● An understanding necessary for the strategic management of a university.
10. ● An understanding of and vision for the development of LLU;
11. ● Presentation skills (using digital technologies).
12. ● Communication and argumentation skills.
13. ● Knowledge of English to the extent necessary for the professional performance of university council member tasks (B2 level) (please provide a self-assessment of your English language proficiency level in the application documents).
