Losses incurred by entrepreneurs due to government-imposed restrictions must be compensated, Jānis Eglīts, Head of the Office of the Minister of Agriculture, told the LETA agency, commenting on the statement made by Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš at the government session on Tuesday, 20 April, regarding the need to decide on ending state support for those affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
“If these are losses that have arisen as a result of government decisions, they must be compensated,” said J. Eglīts, adding that, for example, many home producers were unable to sell their products due to the ban on holding fairs, and these losses must be compensated in order to help the entrepreneurs continue their operations.
