Laureates nominated for the Forest Sector Annual Award “Zelta čiekurs 2024”

The Forest Days Committee has nominated the laureates for the Forest Sector Annual Award “Zelta čiekurs 2024” in five categories.

In the category For the Contribution of Science to the Development of the Sector, the award goes to researchers, scientists or research teams for significant research, for the development of an innovative technological solution or of a new product over the past two years, with one of the laureates receiving the grand annual award “Zelta čiekurs”. The nominees for the 2024 award are:

 
 
 
 

In the category For Innovative Entrepreneurship the award goes to natural or legal persons who have been active in the sector for at least three years, for the most successful solution in developing or modernising a business, as well as for introducing innovative and environmentally friendly technologies, manufacturing new products and attracting investment over the past two years. The nominees for the 2024 award are:

 
 
 

In the category “For Sustainable Forest Management”, the laureates were assessed in the “Sakoptākais mežs” competition organised by the Latvian Forest Owners Association. The laureates were judged by analysing forest owners’ contribution to establishing productive and resilient forest stands, with attention paid to regeneration, logging, tending, forest infrastructure, the planning of landscape features and the use of scientifically substantiated methods in sustainable forest management. The jury has nominated three finalists for the “Zelta čiekurs 2024” award:
 
 
 
 

In the category For the Contribution to the Development of the Sector the award may be received for significant and outstanding achievement in the development of the forest sector. The nominees for the 2024 award are:
