On 18 January 2022, the Senate of the Latvian Academy of Sciences awarded the Arvīds Kalniņš Prize in forestry, wood research and processing to Dr. sc. ing. Ziedonis Sarmulis, Professor Emeritus at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, for his contribution to wood research and forestry, and for the training of young specialists in the forest sector.
