The EU Sustainable Finance Taxonomy is not on the right track

According to the complementary delegated act (a set of regulatory documents) recently proposed by the European Commission for the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, existing forest management (including sustainable practices) may no longer be considered sustainable in the future. The Swedish forest industry believes that the EC has acted arbitrarily and incompetently, and that the prepared documents must be reconsidered and revised.

A set of prepared regulatory documents or a complementary regulation should only supplement EU legislation on minor details or issues, such as the regulation of specific measures or activities, etc. The aforementioned documents "exceed" the boundaries of such additions. EU member states must by no means delegate so much authority and power to the European Commission!

The EC must now reconsider and revise the prepared regulation, bearing in mind that sustainable forestry and wood products are directly linked to the concept of sustainability and must certainly be included in EU documents.
