Discussion "Man and Forest. What we chose in the past, what we choose today"

On Thursday, 28 April at 15:00, a discussion on the coexistence of wood and man will take place at the National History Museum of Latvia's exhibition "Oar, Moses and Radio. Wood in the history of Latvia". Those interested can attend in person or watch it live on the museum's Facebook page facebook.com/LNVMuzejs.

The discussion will be moderated by journalist Aidis Tomsons, with participants including Uldis Biķis, Chairman of the Council of AS Latvijas finieris, Viesturs Ķerus, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Ornithological Society, economist Edmunds Krastiņš, weather editor Toms Bricis, and Imants Cīrulis, a historian at the National History Museum of Latvia.

In the discussion "Man and Forest. What we chose in the past, what we choose today?", it is intended to examine aspects of the relationship between man and wood from various perspectives, focusing both on the changed understanding of forest use in the context of environmental diversity and continuity over recent decades, and on the broader historical experience of Latvia in the 20th century. Has the attitude towards forests and wood changed and, if so, how? What trends characterise state policy and the importance of forest resources in the economy, and what can our historical experience in these matters contribute to the future?
