In 2020, the European Union and its 27 member states committed to providing 23.39 billion EUR in climate finance to help developing countries reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impact of climate change. This figure was approved today (29.10.2021) by the Council in preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), which will take place from 31 October to 12 November in Glasgow. The stated sum is based on new, more detailed EU rules for reporting on climate finance.
