Amur leopards are the rarest big cats on Earth. They currently occupy almost their entire suitable habitat in the south-west of Primorsky Krai. Researchers have concluded that the animals have tripled their occupied range since the beginning of the century.
During the 20th century, the number of leopards and their habitat decreased almost 35-fold, and the only remaining representatives of the species lived in the aforementioned south-west of Primorsky Krai. Targeted actions for leopard conservation have now yielded results.
