The State Forest Service has published the examination schedule for hunters and hunt managers for 2023. It is available on the State Forest Service website and within the State Forest Register information system.

The 2023 examination schedule for hunters and hunt managers can be viewed in the “Hunting” section under the subsection “Hunter examination” on the State Forest Service website. The examination schedule is also available in the State Forest Register, where dates for January of this year have been published so far, with dates for the rest of the year to be added in due course. The State Forest Service advises that changes may be made to the examination schedule.

Previously, hunter candidates had to submit a certificate of training completion to the State Forest Service when applying for an exam. Starting from 01.01.2023, this information is provided to the Service by the training institutions, and as soon as it is registered in the State Forest Register, the candidate can apply for the exam online.

Applications and payment of the state fee for the theoretical knowledge test for a hunter or hunt manager candidate can be made in the State Forest Register no later than 24 hours before the scheduled start time of the exam; there are no such time restrictions for practical skills test applications. When applying for exams, an individual may also request the preparation of a hunter's certificate so that it can be received as soon as possible after successfully passing the exams.

The theoretical knowledge test for a hunter or hunt manager candidate takes place electronically in the State Forest Register. Candidates should bring an identity document and a device that allows authentication via the latvija.lv portal's unified login module, such as internet banking authentication credentials.

The State Forest Service has installed computers for taking theory exams at eight of its regional offices.
