“Stiga RM” to complete acquisition of the “Norupe” sawmill

Having received approval from the Competition Council, “Stiga RM”, one of Latvia's leading timber industry companies, plans to complete the acquisition of SIA “Rīgas meži”'s “Norupe” sawmill in order to build a new, technologically advanced production facility on the site of the existing sawmill over the coming years, where timber harvested in Latvia will be processed into high-value export products.

“The Competition Council's approval will allow us to complete the organisational work and begin implementing our plan to build a new production facility. We see significant development potential in this location for continuing to purposefully develop the manufacture of high value-added products in Latvia. There is a great deal of work ahead, as the facility will be built from scratch, but we have accumulated good experience, and this will already be the third “Stiga RM” factory in Latvia. We are persistently moving towards our goal — to make intelligent use of home-grown timber, add high value to it and create modern, sustainable and environmentally friendly products,” says Andris Ramoliņš, the owner of “Stiga RM”.

Developing the facility in Ogre will be the company's first step outside the Kurzeme region. A convenient location, the necessary infrastructure and the availability of utilities provide a good basis for establishing a new engineered wood products facility, promoting the development of Latvia's woodworking industry.

“Stiga RM” currently owns one of the most modern birch plywood production facilities in the Baltics, which has been operating successfully in Kuldīga for more than ten years, while a high-technology facility producing acoustic panels from wood shavings is being built in Tukums and will begin operations in 2025.
