Some very uncomfortable questions raised by the pandemic

But there are other very uncomfortable and by no means abstract questions. If the economy falls into a severe crisis as a result of all these restrictions, it may mean that the healthcare system itself and its patients, including the frequently cited high-risk groups, suffer financially. Restrictions imposed in the name of protecting high-risk groups undermine the economy and ultimately worsen the purchasing power of those groups (including their ability to buy what is necessary). It sounds harsh, but it is logical. The question is: who will be the person to decide, and by what criteria will this person be guided in a situation where there are no good solutions? Who will be the one to tell a specific community: we will sacrifice some to help the others? And how will the community react to such a proposal? Even by summoning all my cold-bloodedness and cynicism, I personally still cannot formulate an answer. Because these 'few', whom we are trying to save now by paying a high – or is it too high? – price, also want to live. Who has the right to decide on an individual's desire to live by invoking collective interests?
