The journal "Baltic Forestry" was jointly established by the forestry research institutions of the three Baltic states in 1995. Until now, the journal's editorial board has always been led by Lithuanian colleagues, and its editorial office was based in Kaunas, on the premises of the Lithuanian Forestry Research Institute. In recent years, following an initiative by LVMI Silava, the journal has undergone significant changes; it is now published in electronic format, has gained open access status, and its layout design has been moved to the Information Centre of the Silava Forestry Research Institute. The article processing turnaround has significantly accelerated, which is why the journal's international impact factor is constantly increasing.
