Hunting Burmese pythons in Florida can be considered a noble service to the local community, as well as an adventure.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) works with state and private partners to catch and humanely euthanise these massive snakes.

Burmese pythons are not native to Florida. They originate from Southeast Asia, and many were brought to the US in the 70s and 80s as exotic pets and sold in Miami pet shops. These pythons can grow quite large, up to 20 feet in length. Once that happens, many snake owners release them into the wild.

The first python in the wild in the Everglades (Everglades), Florida, was caught in 1979, although most experts believe they were inhabiting the region well before that, but not in numbers large enough to cause problems.

A popular theory: in 1992, Hurricane Andrew destroyed a private python breeding facility in the Everglades. Not everyone agrees with this, as it seems no one knows what the name of this alleged facility was or where it was located. In any case, it appears that since Hurricane Andrew, the number of pythons in the Everglades has increased significantly.
