The forest sector is linked to the Polymer Laboratory of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LVKĶI) through research on tall oil, lignin, microcellulose, and its nano-additives. These are renewable resources that can replace petroleum-based raw materials. The laboratory team has received the forest sector's annual award, the “Golden Cone”, for its contribution to science.
