The situation created by Covid-19 highlights the importance of public health protection. Although many countries are racing to create a vaccine to protect against the coronavirus, there still exists another highly "deadly" cause that shortens the lives of millions and even billions of people and subjects them to long-term illness: air pollution.

As shown by data from the AQLI (Air Quality Life Index), which illustrates the impact of air pollution on life expectancy, air pollution was the greatest risk to human health before Covid-19. And it will remain so after Covid-19, unless strict, international, and sustainable air quality control mechanisms or control policies are implemented.
