Logging must be coordinated with socialites

Everyone has an opinion on Latvia's green wealth, because the forest supposedly belongs to all of us. At the same time, every forest compartment has a specific owner, and this is where a clash of views arises. Some want to fly over Latvia and delight in what a uniform green it is, though for some reason young growth stands are not counted. Others want to take care of the forest and, once the permitted felling diameter is reached, reap the fruits of their labour, only to start all over again. In Latvia, there are about 150,000 private forest owners, and they manage half of Latvia's forests. The state and municipalities take care of the rest. Everyone benefits. That is why forest owners and those working in the sector are currently actively defending their position - that the sustainability of forest management in Latvia is not under threat. It is just that they are not recruiting famous chefs, socialites, opera singers and other well-known figures for this battle (at least for now). Foresters are operating with data from national forest monitoring.
