On 18 May, the LLU Convention approved the new wording of the LLU Constitution as a university of science, introducing significant changes regarding university governance and its strategic specialisation, as well as proposing a rebranding of LLU. These changes were prompted not only by the need to implement requirements set out in the Law on Higher Education Institutions but also by the academic community's decision to address the challenges posed by climate change more purposefully and to seek new opportunities for societal development.
LLU is a university of science and technologies, whose activities in both higher education and research are linked to the innovative and sustainable use of natural resources, which has become the core of the university's identity in the context of increasing climate change. Although at the beginning of its historical development it represented only two sectors – agriculture and forestry – one of which carries the university's name, today LLU has become a multidisciplinary university.
