Latvian land – prospects for long-term development

The publishing house "Dienas Bizness", together with the Farmers Parliament (LOSP), LPKS VAKS, and industry experts, is holding an online conference titled "Latvian land – prospects for long-term development".

Climate change and the rise in GHG emissions, technological opportunities, and the demand for environmentally friendly production present increasingly greater challenges for the agriculture and forestry sectors each year. It is clear that meeting any environmental requirements undertaken by EU member states depends on state support and a clear long-term tax policy, as well as the readiness of entrepreneurs themselves to undertake long-term commitments for the development of these sectors. While the public demand for ecologically and economically produced goods is growing globally and in Latvia, the opportunities to achieve this are intertwined with various challenges: the understanding and cooperation between public administration and entrepreneurs, as well as the scarcity of natural resources, the lack of a workforce, changing weather conditions, and other factors.
