Latvia has set ambitious goals on the path towards balanced climate neutrality and economic transformation, yet the Employers' Confederation of Latvia (LDDK) believes they will not be achievable. Existing sectoral policy planning documents do not contain a precise action plan that reflects specific steps within a timeline, nor do they detail the costs of these actions and their exact impact on meeting climate targets.
LDDK Director General Līga Meņģelsone: “Before further decisions are made, the responsible institutions must carry out precise calculations and provide information on the methods and actions intended to reach the set climate goals, indicating the contribution of each measure, as well as their impact on business and employment. At the same time, support mechanisms must be provided for the sectors that will be most affected by the economic transformation.”
