Not fairy-tale characters, but actual Western Europeans with euros issued by the European Central Bank are wandering around Latvia, hurrying to buy anything here before their money completely loses its value. Ever-new data confirms how well almost all of Latvia, or almost everyone in Latvia, fared last year, when it became increasingly easy to get hold of money, but the money itself had not yet become 'lighter' as noticeably as is happening this year. Luminor Bank economist Pēteris Strautiņš the day before yesterday (7 June) handed out rankings to the municipalities and regions where entrepreneurs were best able to take advantage of last year's economic climate.
