Not just a backyard sauna, but a truly impressive, modern office building can also be built from wood. As early as next year, 2022, the real estate company "Eastnine" will begin construction of the "The Pine" business centre in Riga using timber.

The building will be quite grand (imagine roughly half the size of the "Swedbank" central building in Ķīpsala or the "Alojas biroji" office building in the central part of Riga, near which "The Pine" will be located) and will certainly be the largest structure of its kind in the Baltics, at least for the time being. And this is by no means the only unique feature – the goal is to ensure that the building is carbon or climate-neutral, or even positive; that is, it is planned that it will not generate CO2 emissions or will even absorb them, and it will be the most energy-efficient commercial property in Riga. Those working there will be provided with a healthy, pleasant, and homely working environment, while companies that lease space in it will save on energy costs. "I believe that this project will be unique; we hope that others will follow us," says "Eastnine" CEO Ķēstutis Sasnauskas (Kestutis Sasnauskas).
