On 15 December 2023, the receipt of applications for the advertised competition for the positions of board members of AS “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) concluded. The nomination committee has reviewed the received applications and selected the candidates for the second round of the competition.
A total of 86 applications were received for the advertised competition for LVM board member positions. The first round of the competition has now concluded, during which the nomination committee verified the compliance of the candidates who submitted applications with the mandatory minimum requirements of the competition, based on the information provided by the candidates. Following the verification of the candidates' compliance with the mandatory minimum requirements, the nomination committee decided to advance 26 candidates to the second round of the competition.
The competition was announced for four LVM board member positions across three profiles. The competition process is seeking two board members with knowledge of forestry, forest land management and timber product value chains, development trends in the forest sector and bioeconomy, environmental and circular economy, risk and quality management, and international legislation in the fields of nature conservation, environment, and climate change.
The competition is also seeking a board member with knowledge of finance, risk management, quality management, accounting and cash flow management, the organisation of budget development and planning processes, commercial economics, development trends in the forest sector and bioeconomy, and issues concerning taxonomy and sustainable finance under international legislation.
Another board member is being sought with knowledge of innovation development and implementation, timber product value chains, development trends in the forest sector and bioeconomy, microeconomics, macroeconomics, environmental and circular economy, as well as the fields of international legislation and sustainable investment.
Following the vote of no confidence expressed by the temporary council of LVM in May 2023 towards the then-board members Jānis Lapiņš, Toms Reiziņš, and Jānis Stankevičs, the company's board currently consists of its chairman Pēters Putniņš and four temporary board members – Valdis Kalns, Māris Kuzmins, Dainis Reķelis, and Ieva Rove.
